AGC Tennessee partners with AIA, ‘Make a Wish’

Seven-year-old Catherine of Kelso, Tenn., has met the many challenges of treatment for a brain tumor. Earlier this year, Catherine and her Aunt Donna learned she was eligible to receive a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

After meeting with her wish granter Stewart Bronaugh, vice president of BB&T and AGC member, Catherine wrote a letter to Make a Wish asking for a pink and purple Cinderella caste.

Once the members at AIA and AGC learned of Catherine’s wish, they immediately teamed up to collaborate on how they could make her dream come true. This was the first time the AIA and AGC Middle Tennessee chapters have partnered on a project.

AGC has several members that were vital in the completion of Catherine’s house.  The Parent Co., Automated Framers, Wasco, Lockett Improvements, Design Build Partners, Dale Inc. and R. D. Herbert all donated time and materials to build Catherine her castle.

On Oct. 20, AGC crews arrived in Kelso to finish painting and decorating her castle.

AGC kicks off Young Constructors Forum

Associated General Contractors of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee Branch, hosted its Young Constructors Forum jobsite tour and mixer on Nov. 8.

A group of 35 toured Terrazzo, a large condominium building at 12th and Division at the Gulch in Nashville. The Superintendent for The Parent Company, the General Contractor for Terrazzo, gave a tour of the building. After the tour, the group headed to Sambuca for the mixer.

YCF strives to be an open forum to exchange ideas, an entry vehicle into AGC to promote new member involvement, foster a strong network among peers, create and promote industry innovation, discuss the most important issues and provide feedback to AGC leadership and help structure AGC for the future.
