Alabama

Gallet & Associates Inc. of Birmingham, Ala., recently announced the promotion of Eric C. Reardon to staff geologist II and Alison B. Dunagan to staff engineer.

Reardon earned a bachelor's degree in geology from Auburn University in December 2000 and has been with Gallet & Associates for four years. He is a member of the AIPG, the National Groundwater Association, is a registered geologist in Tennessee and a geologist in training in Alabama.

Dunagan earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Alabama in May 2002 and has been with Gallet & Associates for almost two years. Dunagan is an engineer in training in Alabama.

In other news, Chris Leathers, an engineering technician in Gallet & Associates' Construction Materials Testing Department in Birmingham, was certified as an International Code Council (ICC) structural masonry inspector in November.

At the national Associated Builders and Contractors meeting in October, the ABC Board of Directors elected Brasfield & Gorrie's Jack Darnall to serve as chairman of ABC in 2006.

ABC is a national association representing 23,000 construction and construction-related firms in 79 chapters across the United States.

In his position, Darnall will lead ABC's executive committee and board of directors, guide the national initiatives of the association and serve as its spokesperson. As vice president and manager of the Healthcare Division for Brasfield & Gorrie in Birmingham, Jack has more than 20 years of experience on healthcare projects. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

Brasfield & Gorrie is a regional general contractor and a Forbes 500 company, serving the Southeast from offices in Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, Orlando and Raleigh.

Arkansas

Enco Materials Inc. of North Little Rock, Ark., recently announced that Stephen Tolbert has been hired as its new inside sales representative. Tolbert relocated from Fort Smith, Ark.

Tennessee

Smith Seckman Reid Inc. (SSR), a Nashville, Tenn.-based engineering design and facility consulting firm, has hired Patsy Martin as construction records clerk.

Martin, who will work in the firm's Memphis office, is responsible for maintaining SSR's highway construction records.

Prior to joining SSR, she served as a transportation technician for the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation's (TDOT) construction division in Shelby County, where she provided training to engineering firms doing consultant work for TDOT and checked all areas of contract compliance.

Martin also served as TDOT's highway beautification manager in Madison County. She was responsible for checking state routes for existing billboard compliance with TDOT regulations, recommending permits for new billboard applicants, enforcing junkyard regulations, monitoring scenic highways and working with cities and counties to apply for grants available through the TDOT beautification program.

She began her tenure with TDOT as records manager for the Right of Way Division in Madison County.

SSR is an employee-owned engineering design and facility consulting firm with 350 employees in nine offices across the U.S.

BE&K Building Group Inc. recently announced the following additions to its healthcare construction team in Nashville, Tenn.

With more than 17 years of construction experience, Randy Patterson, senior project manager, will serve as primary liaison between the owner and the architect. Patterson will be active in both the design and construction phases of BE&K projects to identify and address the needs and concerns of everyone involved.

He will be responsible for overall administration of subcontracts, purchase orders, monthly reports, material procurement, scheduling, payment applications, changeorders, document control and cost control.

Patterson comes to BE&K from Bovis Lend Lease, where he worked as a project manager for CNC Mechanical, a Nashville-based Mechanical Contractor. He attended the University of New Orleans.

Jason Adams has more than six years of experience in the healthcare construction industry and as project manager he has directed all phases of the building process from project inception through construction and occupancy. Adams recently served as project manager on a $50 million project with Triad Hospitals Inc. in Tucson, Ariz.

He has a bachelor's degree in building science from Auburn University.
