G.M. “Mac” Badgett, Vulcan Materials Co. of Birmingham, Ala., has been elected first vice chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association.
In addition, Ronald M. White, CEO, Superior Paving Corp. of Gainesville, Va., was elected chairman of the board. White and Badgett, as well as other officers, were installed during NAPA’s recent annual meeting in California.
White’s NAPA activities include being a member of the Executive Committee since 2001, a NAPA state director from 1989 to 1991, and a member of numerous other NAPA committees and task forces.
He is a graduate of the Frederick College, Virginia, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Louisiana
Trula H. Remson has been elected Gulf States regional director of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Remson, a principal of Remson, Haley, Herpin, Architects of Baton Rouge, La., will represent five states – Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana – on the AIA Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning in 2008.
Remson served as the president of the Louisiana Chapter of AIA in 2005 and had served on the board for several years prior to her election as president. She was selected as one of nine Influential Women in Business by the Baton Rouge Business Report in 2006, and her firm has won numerous awards for its architectural designs.
Since 1857, the AIA has represented the professional interests of America’s architects.
Michael Schofield has joined Shreve Land Construction of Shreveport, La., and will assume the responsibilities of chief financial officer.
Schofield has 30 years experience in accounting, personnel and business management. He will be responsible for the accounting for multiple student housing, multifamily housing and commercial construction projects throughout a 10-state area.
He is also the company liaison for insurance, bonds and other financial matters. He will be involved in all phases of accounting and finance as it relates to project management, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Schofield will supervise the administrative support staff and oversee the human resource management for Shreve Land. He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA in personnel management. He is also a certified public accountant and a notary for Caddo and Bossier parishes.
Prior to joining Shreve Land, Michael was the executive director for the AGC Shreveport Chapter and formerly held the position of fiscal officer and director of business affairs for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shreveport.
SJB Group LLC of Baton Rouge recently announced that Eric M. Poche’ has been appointed director of parks & planning, reporting to Vice President and Engineering Division Manager Mickey L. Robertson.
Poche’ has been with SJB Group since 2006 as a senior land planner and landscape architect.
In his new role, which specializes in land planning and landscape architecture services for community, residential, commercial, mixed-use and recreation projects, Poche’ will supervise staff, manage projects and profitability, develop and negotiate proposals and contracts, maintain key client relationships, assist with service quality and perform project review and control.
Prior to joining SJB Group, Poche’ was landscape architect and project manager with SLA Studioland Inc. of Houston. He earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture in 1989 from Louisiana State University.
Poche’ has 18 years of experience in land planning and landscape architecture and is a registered landscape architect in Louisiana.
SJB Group provides planning, engineering, land surveying, construction and real estate services, and recreational consulting to commercial, industrial, institutional and governmental clients.
Mississippi
The partners of JBHM Architects and JBHM Education Group of Tupelo, Miss., announced recently the promotion of Terri Johnston to corporate strategist.
“Terri has been with our firm for 16 years and during that time she has been an invaluable asset to JBHM,” Michael Jones, partner, said. “We are counting on her knowledge and skills to determine the path we will take as a company and to provide accountability and motivation for us as we move along that path.”
Johnston has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Florida State University and has more than 17 years experience in architecture. She believes in continual improvement and to that end is constantly sharpening the saw by attending selective professional development workshops – Wharton Executive Education Program and The Center for Creative Leadership top her list.
Johnston will work out of the Tupelo office for both JBHM Architects and JBHM Education Group. Her primary responsibilities will include creating overall strategies and systems that support and enable the staff of JBHM to achieve the highest professional standards.
Tennessee
J. Todd Robinson, senior designer/principal with Earl Swensson Associates and Marc Rowland, partner-in-charge, healthcare, with Thomas Miller & Partners LLC, both of Nashville, have been recognized by Healthcare Design magazine as being among the 20 architects nationally who are making “a significant difference in advancing the design of healthcare facilities.”
Both are described as “the professional’s professional.”
Robinson, who has been with ESa for 26 years, serves as the principal-in-charge of healthcare design projects across the country. According to Healthcare Design’s latest issue, Robinson “strives to create healing and comfortable environments in all of his projects. He is respected by his peers and his work has been published on numerous occasions.”
ESa, a 46-year-old architectural firm, is consistently recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the top 10 healthcare design firms in the nation.
Rowland “challenges concepts until they fulfill the client’s desires,” according to the magazine. “Marc pushes the envelope to test the functionality of floor plans, i.e. segregating public areas from staff areas while maintaining efficiencies.”
Rowland is a partner of Thomas, Miller & Partners LLC and has been with the firm for 20 years. The firm has 30 years of experience providing architectural and interior design services for healthcare clients.
Greg Limpert has joined VP Buildings of Memphis, Tenn., as district manager for portions of New York and Pennsylvania. VP Buildings is one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of pre-engineered metal building systems.
Limpert will be responsible for western New York and western and central Pennsylvania.
Limpert comes to VP from Syracuse-based Hayner Hoyt Corp., where he served as director of business development. Greg’s work experience includes serving as district manager for a VP competitor in New York, as well as a three-year stint as national account manager for VIP Structures, an Authorized VP Builder.
Limpert is a graduate of State University of New York College at Oswego and has a bachelor’s degree in political science.
VP Buildings engineers and manufactures steel building systems for low-rise commercial applications.

Regional
Bob Webb, district sales manager for Stone Construction Equipment in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, recently received the company’s highest sales honor, The President’s Award.
Lynne Woodworth, president and CEO of Stone Construction Equipment, presented the award to Webb at the company’s recent ARA sales meeting.
The award is given to the district sales manager who best exemplifies Stone’s philosophy and values.
